Color Wheel Umbrellas

Everything looks better in color, right?  Even a rainy day!!  2nd grade has been learning about the color wheel!  We've discussed analogous colors, warm/cool colors, complementary colors, and primary/secondary colors. The easiest way for students to draw the sections was to make them even, which messes up the accuracy of the color wheel a bit, but you could always modify to make it more accurate.  These are so bright and beautiful and perfect for Spring!!

  1. These are great! I think I will try them with my second graders after Spring Break. Did you have them trace anything for the umbrellas or just freehand it?

  5. Thanks everyone! I'm having technical difficulties replying to each comment. For some reason the reply link doesn't work, and occasionally when it does, my replies aren't being posted! I just wanted to thank you for all the nice comments and answer a few of your questions. I cut 10" strips of construction paper for students to use as a guide to draw the ribs of the umbrella. We folded the strips in half so they could easily locate the center for the next line. After tracing 4 intersecting lines, we connected the ends of the lines for the umbrella fabric. Hope that helps!
