Snowy owls

As we are wrapping up some of our winter projects this week, I can't help but to wish for some snow to go along with them!  I know they're getting a ton of it in the Northeast this week, so maybe they can share a little with us? :) It doesn't snow often here in the south, but when it does, it's like Christmas all over again!  At least for me it is!  Here are a few of the snowy owl trees 1st grade is finishing this week. I found this one on Pinterest a couple of years ago and I was happy to try them this year!

3rd grade owls for Art By Me

This is one of my favorite projects!  They always turn out beautiful!  Here are a few from this year.

Arts Camp 2014!

It's been such a busy summer! I am just now getting around to posting the fantastic pictures from the annual Arts Camp sponsored by our local Stanly County Arts Council.  My part was just a tiny piece of everything the kids had an opportunity to do this week.  They had theatre, dance, and music each day along with art.  I had four groups, divided roughly by age, and each group created a 16" by 20" canvas painting.  I love how they turned out!  I love even more that two canvases got to come home with me!

3rd grade owls

Third graders have been working on these beautiful owls for the past few weeks.  We drew the owls together, then discussed the color wheel to determine what colors would work well next to each other.  We learned about complementary colors, analogous colors, and how these colors work together.  I think this is one of my favorite third grade projects!
